Books I’m currently loving p3

Wow. How long has part 3 taken me? It feels like ageeees! I’ve really struggled recently to pick up a book and relax with it, there seems to be too much going on to have 5 minutes however I still find time before bed which is how I’ve managed to get through these! Some loves, some not too much in this edition but hey, that’s to point of this.

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

For me this book was not the one. I loved the read of the blurb which is why I purchased, and I’ve seen other people’s reviews who rave about it. I’ve learnt that I don’t like books for multiple people’s perspective as I just don’t connect with the characters as well. Saying this I can’t stop a book once I’ve started and a carried on to the ending. If you like that style of writing then it’s got a good story line but I think this is one you’re either going to like or dislike.

The Summer of Impossible Things by Rowan Coleman

Oh, my goodness, if you need a book that tugs on all your heart strings then this is THE ONE! Every night I jumped into bed a little earlier to have 10 minutes, which quickly turned into half an hour, to read more and more and more! I loved it. If a book can really make me emotional then it’s a winner in my eyes. So be prepared to laugh and cry and give up any free time you have to this one!

The Brighton Mermaid by Dorothy Koomson (audio book)

I think I’ve read nearly all of Dorothy Koomson’s books. They are hard hitting, emotional and always have a twist. At night I find I have to listen to something and I had exhausted all my favourite podcasts, so I thought I’d give my first try at an audiobook. From the app I could set it to 30 minutes every night, so I knew if I did fall asleep, I wouldn’t have to rewind it too far to pick up where I left off. Well let’s just say these 30 minutes soon went out the window, I couldn’t get enough! There was never a good time for the book to pause so I had to keep going. It joined me on my morning drive to work and again at lunch breaks. Audiobooks are a totally different immersive experience, you don’t get that book ending accomplishment feeling but thats also because you don’t know when the ending is coming. Honestly weather you’re going to read or listen to this one you’re in for a ride!

Together by Julie Cohen

There is so much to say about this book! I keep telling everyone about it and I’ve lost track as to who I’ve told and who I haven’t. This book is quite powerful. It’s written almost backwards, it starts of quite emotional and you’re left with a lot of questions from the get-go which is what encourages you to keep going. By the last couple of chapters this book could not be taken out of my hands and if necessary, I was doing things one handed without full attention, so I could keep going. I was not prepared for the ending, I was on twitter straight away seeing what others thought of it and their reactions. Its mind blowing and I’m not going to spoil it but if you do pick up this book please message me after, so we can chat about this because I’m still not sure I’m over it!

If you have any book recommendations then please leave them below in the comments and maybe they’ll be in part 4!! x
