An afternoon at The Kitchen at Chewton Glen

I am lucky enough to have well-known Chewton Glen hotel right on my doorstep, but can you believe I’ve never driven the 5 minutes down the road to visit?! Well, this weekend that all changed. As a treat for my nan I booked us a table for lunch at their new restaurant, The Kitchen who’s head chef is the none other than James Martin! Sadly he wasn’t there this weekend but even so the food was still SOOO, SO delicious!

The restaurant itself has huge bi-folding doors on one side which where all open letting you look out to the perfectly kept grounds, honestly it was lush! The menu had something for everyone from burgers, salads to fish and chips both my nan and I had to wait for the waiter to come to make our decisions on impulse and even then I had to catch him again to add on truffle chips which have blown my mind!

The food couldn’t be faulted, even dessert, which wasn’t necessary as we were already so full, was divine and now I just want to plan my next trip back so I can slowly go through the menu and try it alllllllll.

After our lunch, it was only right that we walked off our food, and what better place to do that than in the grounds surrounding the hotel. With private paths leading off to ponds with fountains and even a glorious herb and vegetable garden to explore we were both ready for an afternoon snooze by the time we were done.

The lesson has been well learnt not to take the local gems for guaranteed & I can’t wait to have an excuse to go again!
